The Picks

Back in the days of the original Altman’s Army (est. November 2002), during the magical 02-03 season, the rest of the Army and I would have a few hours to kill before games. We got to the Civic early to make sure we had front row seats in the student section, within ear shot of Bruce Weber, Mark Turgeon, and the other opposing MVC coaches.

Back in those days, it was a given that Kyle Korver would lead the Jays in scoring in most every game. It was also a given the Jays would win, especially at home in the Old Barn.

So, we started selecting leading scorers (other than Kyle) and the margin of victory for Altman and the Jays.

We’ve graduated. Many have moved away, only to see Jays games in St. Louis each year. But we still pick leading scorers and margin of victory (or, if someone’s brave enough to handle the ridicule, margin of defeat). After Korver, Nate Funk was off limits. And last year, P’Allen established himself as not only a crowd favorite, but a threat to drop 20 at the blink of an eye.

So, without further ado, new contributors Dance Cam Guy, Panon, and I will pick ‘em each and every game on this site. We’ll keep track of the winner each game, and at the end of the year you’ll be able to find one of us three buying a round or two of expensive Scottrade Center brews at Arch Madness.

Leading Scorer

Creighton Otter: Justin Carter (13)
Dance Cam Guy: Kenny Lawson (15)
Panon: Cavel Witter (16)
Mrs. Creighton Otter: Booker Woodfox (14)

Margin

Creighton Otter: Jays win by 9
Dance Cam Guy: Jays win by 5
Panon: Jays win by 3
Mrs. Creighton Otter: Jays win by 7

NOTE: Mrs. Dance Cam Guy, mother to 8-month-old Dance Cam Baby, picks Dustin Sitzmann with 25 points.
